My Shop

I love to look at and visit shops of all kinds. I always learn something. You may enjoy a short tour of my shop. Please know that it is a work in progress and I expect it always will be. I mostly do one offs and prototypes so placement of tools and benches tries to meet all contingencies. I’m also experimenting with metal working.

The main section of the shop is 670 sq. ft.  The entrance is on the SW corner so when you walk in you are looking across at:

Thanks for looking. I will be publishing stuff about some of my tools under the shop page.

I should have known how wonderful your shop would be. I am totally impressed!!! Little did I know how serious you were about your woodworking. How wonderful that you have found a new passion.

Nice shop space, Al! I look forward to seeing it in person with the rest of the guild members in a couple of weeks. Thanks for offering to host a meeting there.

Nice shop, Al! It looks like you’ve got a heavy duty workbench in the making too!

Nice shop…Is the narrow belt sander a special knife sharpener tool??

    • Al Flinck says:

The 2×72″ belt sander is in fact a classic type for knife makers. I use it for all kinds of grinding and honing. The design and build is my own. Thanks for your interest.

I stumbled onto your site while looking for other things on my visit to Montana. So impressed with your story and ethic. I’m a bad internet explorer. How do I find more of your work ?

  6. Al Flinck says:

Thanks Mark, As you may notice I have not posted in a long time. I have continued making and wondering if I will find the project that creates a more narrow focus for my work or will I continue to be the grasshopper. Every new technique and process is the most fascinating until I allow myself to believe I understand it. Then along comes the next thing I don’t know anything about and I’m all in on the new thing. This is what happened to my blogging I think. So I would love to promise that I will post some of the stuff I’ve been up to but afraid I’d go back on my word. I do promise to keep up with replies here and if you would like to exchange emails I’d be up for that though I am not sure how to make that happen without posting it. Any ideas? I am curious about your experience with the making of things.
